Toyota, Japanese Auto Company has announced the commencement of the production of its twelfth generation edition of the Corolla model. The 2015 Toyota Corolla will come as a virtual rerun of the redesigned 2014 model. It will feature a sleeker styling and an improved interior.
2015 Corolla Improvements- Exterior
Toyota Corolla 2015 model’s exterior will feature some changes. Among the notable changes is the dismissal were the stodgy upright lines, which were a signature of the car for two decades. A new grille and full front mask are some of the new details also expected. All in all, the luxury sedan will look more aggressive and modern in the next model year. It will be the first car in its class to use the LED (light-emitting diode) low-beam headlamps and daytime running lights. There are also speculations that some new colors will be added to the standard color palette of the four-door car.
Cabin Design and Space
There are many changes expected in the interior of the upcoming 2015 Corolla. The seats will be upholstered in high quality leather. The rear seats will be more comfortable and be able to be lowered to increase luggage space.
Corolla 2015 will also benefit from the substantial improvement in rear-passenger accommodations that came when the car was redesigned for the current model year. Corolla now offers one of the most spacious rear legroom in its segment, thanks to a 3.9-inch increase in wheelbase. Wheelbase represents the distance between the front and rear axles. At 106.3 inches, Corolla has one of the longest wheelbases in the compact car segment.
The improved rear legroom came at a cost. There were reductions in the front and rear head rooms, but this minor flaw will not be corrected in the upcoming Corolla. Toyota will make up for this by equipping this next model with a rear-center armrest, this was not available on the 2014 model.
Toyota will equip the next edition of the Toyota Corolla with some advanced technological features while using high quality materials in the entire interior. It will have a touch screen 6.1 inch display, Entune multimedia system with speaker, Bluetooth, USB port and a navigation system among many impressive luxury features.
Trim Levels and Trim Details
Just like the current Corolla, Toyota Corolla 2015 edition will be offered in four trim levels: a base version L, the volume-leading midline LE trim, the highly fuel efficient LE Eco, and the sporty S trim.
The LE Eco and the S trims will feature a small decklid spoiler. 16-inch alloy wheels will be optional on the LE and S trims, with the S trim will also be eligible for 17-inch alloys. The S trim will also be visually distinguished by its heated power outside mirrors with signal indicators.
The upcoming Corolla will come with many safety features, among which is the collision avoidance system which warns of lane departure, electronic locks with automatic locking, onward accident etc.
Under the Hood
It is unlikely that the next Toyota Corolla will go a different path from the automobile’s foundation as regards its choice of mechanical formula. We believe that Toyota will stick with the tried and trusted 1.8-liter four-cylinder as the only engine unit for the 2015 Corolla. Some variations of the unit may be offered. L, LE, and S trims will come equipped with a 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque version of the engine, while the LE Eco trim will use an advanced and more fuel efficient version of the engine, which delivers 140 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque. We have also heard rumors that a hybrid version will be coming, but we have not received any official confirmation of this. A variable transmission (CVT) will replace the conventional automatic transmission.
Release Date and Price of 2015 Toyota Corolla
The 2015 Toyota Corolla will be launched at the beginning of the year at one of the International Motor Shows. Pricing details have not been confirmed, but we expect the starting price to range between $17,250 and $20,250 depending on the trim level.
